Movement is the Medicine: movement-oriented process psychotherapy (M-POP)
Join psychotherapist, yoga instructor, and fitness expert Tess Kim, MA, LPCC for a mind-body-spirt group therapy adventure. Ms. Kim will draw from her experiences in Korea as a health and fitness professional, her time in Hawaii studying and practicing Five Rhythms Psychotherapeutic Dance, Conscious Movement, and her many years as a trauma and addiction therapist and movement meditation practitioner. Ms. Kim has a gift for blending multiple modalities together to facilitate healing and growth.
This group will use concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, somatic therapies, yoga, and a variety of therapeutic movements, as well as the latest findings from neuroscience on the mind-body connection. As we have learned, the body keeps the score. Through mindfulness, movement, psychological insights, and interpersonal connections participants will be given skills and opportunities to tame unwanted thoughts and emotions and feel more at home in their bodies and more capable in the world.
GROUP DETAILS: ● WHO: Anyone with anxiety, depression, PTSD, or simply a desire to grow. ● WHAT: 12 Weeks. ABOUT TESS KIM, MA, LPCC Tess was born and raised in South Korea and immigrated to Oahu, Hawaii at 18 years old. Before working as a licensed clinician, she had an extensive career in health & fitness and the healing art of movement. Tess is certified in the Korean Healing Bodywork called "Kyung Rak" and she's been a certified personal trainer and a registered yoga teacher for over 26 years. Additionally, she worked as a health and fitness expert in Hawaii & Korea and has hosted her own health and fitness related television programs. Lastly, she has also served as a preventive health counselor for the Hawaiian Medical Service Association. In 2010, Tess relocated from Hawaii to Santa Fe to pursue a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Southwestern College. Tess received her MA degree in 2018 and obtained a certificate in Human Sexuality from Southwestern College's New Earth Institute. She is also trained in CBT, DBT, MBSEP, CRAFT, EMDR to name just a few.
